Google Has Officially Confirmed a Core Algorithm Update
Google has confirmed that in the first couple weeks of March 2018, it has launched a core algorithm update. This is something that they do several times a year and is designed to improve search results.
Since this is a core update, this algorithm will not be given a name, as core updates contain older algorithm’s, such as Panda, Fred, Maccabee etc.
If Your Rankings Drop, Google Says Do Nothing
According to Google, even if your rankings drop, you may need to do nothing to your site. "As with any update, some sites may note drops or gains, and there’s nothing wrong with pages that may now perform less well," they said. "Instead, it's that changes to our systems are benefiting pages that were previously under-rewarded. There's no "fix" for pages that may perform less well other than to remain focused on building great content." (See official Google Tweets below)
