Ok, I figured out why my Bloglines subscription to my own feed was not updating since the move. The RSS Feed URL is now different, so I had to unsubscribe from the feed and resubscribe to the new feed, which is https://www.seo-scoop.com/feed/
This is a bummer, because I assume I will lose many of my subscribers. Oh well, life goes on, right? If any of you were previously subscribed to SEO Scoop, feel free to unsubscribe to the old one and resubscribe to the new one, using https://www.seo-scoop.com/feed/ as the feed url. Sorry about that, folks.
Go in and manually edit or recreate the old file and put up a message telling people the new URL. You could also try a 301 in the htaccess but I’ve had limited success with the second method.
So you mean put in a message directly in the old feed? Definitely hadn’t thought of that. Worth a try! 🙂
Yup sounds like a plan.
I tried to use htaccess to point to the new feed but it returns a different header when called. As such although the link does work, many readers, especially web based ones, just pull in text saying “301 moved” etc.
Also some readers demand that the url for the feed include an extention. E.g. /feed/ will not work, you must have e.g. feed.xml or something.
For the time being I use domain.com/index.php?feed=rss2
that seems to solve any problems.
Let us know the solution you work up. 🙂
Oh, and glad to see you took my advice and linked the header image 😉
