Don't you just hate it when someone bashes your industry - and calls you names - based on faulty information, inadequate testing and no education? In other words, John Dvorak just called SEOs snake oil salesmen when he knows absolutely NOTHING about SEO.
Hey John! Shut up. Come back and call us names when you have any idea at all about what you are talking about, ok?
ha ha.he doesnt know about a thing about seo and yet seems to be commenting about it.
After seeing the post on PC Magazine’s site, I posted my own breakdown of what’s wrong with John’s article here: http://www.contextsolutions.net/blog/2009/02/why-john-dvorak-is-dead-wrong-about-seo/
@Mark
You’re right, there are a lot of scammers out there who make guarantees about their “SEO” services that no one can make – like a #1 ranking on Google, for example. Or they make claims that suggest these kinds of results, but these claims are worded in such a way that they can ineffectively be fulfilled and as far as the legal jargin in the contract is concerned, they’ve done their job.
But there are also a lot of SEO’s that know the industry inside and out, and even being someone who has earned the right to fir off their mouths, won’t do so out of respect. One of the efforts of my Internet marketing firm is educating potential clients on what to look for in a firm they hire, and how certain results cannot be guaranteed, only the services that are provided.
