I'll be heading to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in a couple of weeks for the first real vacation I've had in many, many years. I'm extremely excited about going. I've never been there, and of course, I've heard I'll love it.
Looking for feedback on anything in particular I should do...places to shop...places to eat...etc. I've gotten brochures in the mail, and scoured the web for information, but if anyone has any first-hand experience, I'd love to hear about it. Little holes-in-the-wall kinds of places are often the best!
We've got a great cabin lined up to stay in, so I don't need recommendations for where to stay, but we will be taking our time coming home, and visiting nearby towns in nearby states. So, if you know of any great places to stay in Asheville or Chattanooga, or any of the surrounding areas that you think I shouldn't miss, let me know about those as well.
I'll be taking a break from SEO during my vacation, so you'll likely hear very little from me during that time (mid-May through end of May). But I seriously doubt I'll be able to stay off the web the entire time, so I'll check in at least once while I'm gone. But I'm leaving to have FUN, FUN, FUN, and leaving the work behind!
There’s a great little fudge shop next to the riply’s museum… The aquarium is pretty cool, you should go there if you have the time. They also sell passes that get you into all the cool stuff out there (ripley’s, aquarium and a bunch more)
Though, i’ve really gone their for the snowboarding, so I haven’t had much of a chance to check the town out.
have fun!
ooooh, fudge shop…perfect! i love fudge! will definitely check that out. thanks!
Hmmm… I went to Gatlinburg for a high school trip about 8 years ago. I remember some sort of cool dry sled track thingie up in the mountains. I also saw some sort of live show at Dollywood, maybe? Don’t remember much, but it was fun!
HI, little late on this but I just got back from gatlinburg. I think the first time out is more about exploring. I learned quickly to stay away from the trappings of the coupon people, unless you want to spend your vacation looking into timeshares. I stayed at VICTORIAN HEIGHTS RENTALS. couldnot have been happier and I certainly felt like I got my moneys worth, I highly recommend it. The owners offer a wonderful home in seclusion, a beautiful victorian home of your own. check out there site!!! For the best pancakes in town I liked PANCAKE PANTRY. clean, priced well, pancakes are out of this world! just for future bloggers. ps: see the mountains first. you can spend evenings at all the shopping and tourist areas. I’m going back in January. can’t wait!
