Traduction francaise: Liste des 25 Répertoires les Plus Puissants sur la Toile
So after getting a fair amount of feedback on my last series I decided it was finally time to offer a "Top 25 Most Powerful Web Directories" list. Now this comprehensive web directories list isn't set in stone, and will probably need to be updated on 3-month intervals, but it does cover a good majority of the top paid directories you should initially target to submit your site(s) too.
Now I don't usually offer such specific details on link building resources; personally I prefer to provide general tips and then let the viewer read between the lines and extract my key points, but in this case I just felt that I should provide a quick and powerful directory list to follow up my three part series on directory submissions. Only seems fitting. And with the potential power of directories for SEO currently in hot debate, I thought that it was the right time to unleash this list. (For the record; yes they are still powerful!)
Now, there are a lot of great directories that aren't on this list because they are either too expensive for my blood (BOTW, Yahoo! Directory) or it just takes way too long to get approved (DMOZ, Illumirate) when you're looking for a quick boost for your site(s). So without much further ado, here is a list of the top 25 most powerful directories:
1.) Family Friendly Sites
2.) Incrawler
3.) Kahuki
4.) Greenstalk
5.) Rakcha
6.) Joeant
7.) Splash Directory
8.) Goguides
9.) Enquira
10.) ALS Links
11.) Clush
12.) Octopedia
13.) Info Listings
14.) Skaffe
15.) Global Weblinks
16.) Links 2 Go
17.) Dmoz Zilla
18.) Gimpsy
19.) Global Link Networks
20.) Business Directory
21.) Zorg Directory
22.) TWD
23.) Data Spear
24.) World Site Index
25.) Most Popular Sites
If you feel there is any directory which I overlooked (or have any questions about the list or any of the specific directories for that matter) please feel free to write a comment about it and I will do my best to respond to you and answer your inquiries! Happy searching!

Directory #13 seems to be dead. clicked on add listing and returns an error.
“You’re right about BOTW, but like I said it’s one of the most expensive directories out there.”
You get what you pay for.
Cheers for the list Paul. I’ve saved it and am certainly going to try it out with one of my sites.
I’ve never really given directories the time of day, mainly because I can write articles incredibly fast and get them submitted in the same amount of time it takes to fill in the forms for directories.
What I do wonder is how much of a boost will these directories realistically offer? Any examples you can share or point me to?
There are a lot of those that I was not aware of, so thanks for putting together that list.
Wedoo as some powerfull SEO action for the french website
@heman… the link works fine try it again!
@greg… Sure, but instead of submitting to BOTW you could submit to 3-4 of these directories; think about it.
@Thomas… In terms of specific examples to show you the power of directories; no. In terms of boost power it all depends on the competitiveness of your keyword.
Don’t get me wrong article syndication is great; but doesn’t offer nearly as much power as some of these directories do. My advice? Supplement your current article writing/syndication with a few directory submissions a week; you’ll get a strong boost in no time!
I disagree with the fact about sub directories and their pr. If the page is indexed in google, it will always pass a certain amount of link rep. If the page is relevant and it is indexed, submit it, you will get something out of it I assure you.
Oh yes, and you have missed out one majot directory in my eyes, although it is a little pricey, in the Yahoo range. http://www.business.com it costs 299 per year but is very valuable if you can get in the right page.
@SeoByHand… Finding a sub-category with PR is like finding a needle in a haystack. So you’re right in saying that you should still submit to sub-categories with no PR.
Business.com is obviously powerful, I didn’t include it because it’s too expensive for most client’s budget. Instead of spending $300 for one year on business.com you could get around 10 permanent listings off this list. Kind of a no-brainer if you ask me 🙂
Great list here. Thanks for taking the time to compile it.
Hello Paul. Just wanted to say thanks for mentioning my directory Global Weblinks on your great list. It is lovely to hear some of the users find it useful and strong. We work hard to review and approve sites ASAP 24/7 and the users love this. (I know I do)
One of the good secrets to have a strong directory is to be a bit critic on the submissions. Some dir owners just approve everything if they get paid, while we actually reject quite a lot due to low quality.. In the long run they will ruin their own directory with this.
Also the trick to clean/review the directory at regular basis (check all sites if they are the same as when submitted – scammers/spammers come in all sizes).
You mention a couple I didn’t know so will give them a look.
Thanks again
Thanks for including Kahuki.com into this list, Paul!
@Claus…
Thanks for taking the time to provide some in-depth perspective from the directories’ owner side. Really appreciate it as it offers our readers a great and unique insight!
Here we go. Finally a list of directories that is actually useful.
yet another nice list of useful directories list for me to submit 🙂
That is a great list of powerful directories but some of them require you to pay a fee to join in. How about Topofblogs, Topblogarea?
@leon/desk coder… Glad you enjoyed the post!
@Finance.. You’re right, these are all paid (some have free option but good luck getting approved in a timely fashion). Topofblogs and topblogarea are good but they are for blogs only and aren’t general web directories.
Good list. and yes.. Yahoo is too expensive!
There are a lot of directories that i have overlooked in the past. Thanks for this comprehensive list, however i will still do an analysis on each one to ensure they are relatively safe to be listed on.

Cool list. Let’s not forget DMOZ, you can’t buy your way in there though!
