Desktop search, in this case Google's, was recently my hero. I accidentally deleted some important text on a web page, and recreating the text would have been a major pain. I did not yet have a backup of it because I had just written it. After much stomping of the feet and grinding of the teeth, I thought about searching via Google Desktop Search. Like magic, 5 cached pages of the text appeared before my eyes. Now, that is the power of search, and it highlights for me how far search has come. I imagine any of the competing desktop search products would have probably accomplished the same goal. The next time you make the same stupid mistake I did, use your desktop search product to find the lost data. (Helpful SEO tip o' the day). 🙂
