Solve Problems and Links will Follow

Link building is a chore we all know we have to do, but the sheer quantity of options available often leaves me feeling like a deer in headlights. I often rely on link building bloggers to keep my efforts in line.

One idea that I've taken to heart is that if you make a concerted effort to solve a problem your visitors are having then those visitors will do some of the difficult work of actually spreading your link love around.

Most (if not all) niches have inherent problems that users are searching for answers to.

There are very specific questions out there that your visitors are trying to answer. To find those questions try using a tool like Wordtracker's Keyword Questions. You type in a keyword and it will return all of the question-based searches for that keyword that it finds in its system.

This is a relatively passive way of building links, but if you do a good job of solving the problems your users are having they will go a long way to promote your content. This will not yield results as quickly as going out and cold calling bloggers in your field (or similar efforts). If you're anything like me though, trying to contact random bloggers with what amounts to a form letter will never have any appeal. I'd much rather let the content do the work whenever possible.
