When searching for either link partners or relevant directories to list your site, don't forget to check the smaller search engines. For example, I usually check for "keyword" + "add url" and similar searches in the top 3 search engines - Google, Yahoo, and MSN beta - when seeking out new places to get backlinks from. It is habit for me to only use these three, and when I can't find any more places to obtain backlinks, I get frustrated and stop searching. But don't stop there or you may be missing out on lots of great backlinks. Start doing these searches in the smaller search engines as well. Generally, these search engines will give you a wildly different list of potential backlinks. Yesterday, I obtained a bundle of good backlinks by doing this. So don't fall victim to old habits - use all the resources at hand to get those all important backlinks to your site.
