I originally assumed that submitting a Google Sitemap for a brand new site would help it get indexed quickly. That assumption was wrong. In four days (since the sitemap was submitted), Googlebot has gobbled up the sitemap many, many times. Yet it has not yet spidered even one link on the sitemap. My new site is still not indexed at all in Google. Thankfully, MSN has over 100 pages already indexed and ranking very well. Yahoo only has the home page indexed. But Google, even after spidering the sitemap.xml file numerous times, has failed to go beyond that point. Just thought I would let you all know the status.
