Came across a forum thread today that I thought was interesting, concerning one man's opinion that Google is broken.
Ah, the old "Google is broken" thing again. How many times over the years have people said that? I've even said it a few times, I'm sure. So, normally, I wouldn't link out to yet another Google is broken thread, but this time I thought it was worth reading and discussing.
Joeychgo uses a specific example of a search term - vbulletin - and compares the search results across the big 4 search engines. Clearly, using Joeychgo's logic, Google is the loser. He then goes on to explain his theory of why this is the case. The theory is reasonable and certainly possible.
What I'd like to see is approximately 100 search terms analyzed in the same manner, across a broad spectrum of niches. Not only would that give a good indication of the relevance of each search engine, but it may also bring to light some interesting ideas as to the "whys" and "hows" of each search engine's ranking methods.
Anyway, thought you might want to check out the latest Google is broken theory. Would love to see lots of input on it.
