If you are conducting outreach for content that you have built on your site you need to make sure that you are contacting the right people in the right way. Digging out elusive emails can be a frustrating job.
Whilst there is no substitute for searching through a site by hand there is something to be said for automating at least some of the process to make your life that little bit easier.
Without further ado here are four tools to assist in this process:
SEOgadget Data Gathering Tool
Put together by the team at SEOgadget this nifty little tool goes beyond just finding an email address.
Sign into the tool using your Twitter account and you are set to go.
Simply pop in the domain you are interested in and the tool goes out and tries to find contact details alongside other metrics like social shares and links.
For a big site like Search Engine People you may find that it comes up with a fairly generic email address - but it's a start at least.
There is a second field in the tool that lets you add up 200 linking urls and this where the tool comes into its own. Let's say that you have a list of 200 sites in your vertical that you are potentially interested in getting a link from at some point in the future you simply need to paste them in. You will quickly get a set of results that look like this:
Not only does the tool try to uncover the email addresses of this site but it will:
- check to see if you have any links form them already
- try and find G+ author details
- show link and social data
- find alternative contact details
You can then export the data as a csv and filter and prioritise based on the metrics that are important to you.
Bulk Domain Checker Tool (Outreachr)
If you don't need as much data as that I recommend the Bulk Domain tool form Outreachr.
It works in a similar fashion to the SEOgadget tool. You simply pop in the domain names that you are interested in finding out the details of (only up to 50 with this tool) and wait for it to do its magic.
Once run you will see a set of results like this:
You can then export the data and integrate it into your outreach campaign accordingly.
If you are already in the situation where you have found some sites that you want to contact and have scoured the site to find the most appropriate person but have pulled up a blank on the email address you may want to try a different approach.
Here are two tools that can assist you in this situation:
Find Anyone's Email address (Buzzstream)
A free tool from the guys at Buzzstream. Simply pop the name of the person that you have identified as the best person to reach out to, put in their company name and website and you will see something like this:
Buzzstream creates the advanced search operators for you to look through and identify the possible email contact details for your project.
Linksy.me
An alternative to this that works of a similar principle is linksy.me. Again you will need the full name and the domain name of the person whose email you are trying to find. The tool runs through common variations to try and locate a known email for that person. It will also give you the variations for you to copy and paste into Rapportive (a free Gmail add on) that allows you to confirm that the email is indeed correct
That is how simple it can be to find the actual contact details of the people you need to contact to make your outreach more successful now there is no excuse to start an email with 'Dear Sir or Madam'!
